New Balance Makes Great Strides with iPad App

The Stride ID iPad app, designed and developed by Compsoft on behalf of New Balance, allows staff to video the customer running on an in-store track, and to annotate and compare videos to help select the right shoe.

According to Jonathan Clarke, International Retail Director of New Balance: “New Balance were looking to elevate the in-store running experience and amplify the product offering with technology. The Stride ID gait analysis app allows customers to see how their legs work when they run and enables the New Balance team to match the right shoes to their movement.”

Jonathan went on to say: “The Compsoft team were a pleasure to work with. Their mobile expertise and attention to detail have ensured that Stride ID delivers a great user experience for customers across the world, amplifying the industry-leading retail experience New Balance is offering.”

The functionality of the app includes:

• One touch video recording of a customer running on the in-store track
• Side-by-side review of two videos, with choice of independent or simultaneous play,  pause and scrubbing
• Ability to graphically annotate paused video to assist gait diagnosis and highlight important areas
• Ability to take screenshots for comparison, which can also be sent to the client
• Recording of statistical details for each customer
• Localization for international use, including translations and different standards of shoe sizing

The Stride ID app has been implemented in a number of outlets as part of a roll-out to approximately 100 New Balance stores around the world which have a specific focus on performance.

Compsoft has been voted Best Large Studio at the UK Mobile and App Design Awards for the second consecutive year. The awards, which will be presented on Thursday 10th December in London, recognise the very best in app design, development and innovation.

4 Compsoft Apps Strike Gold!

Four apps designed and developed by Compsoft have been voted best in their category at the 2015 UK Mobile and App Design Awards. The awards, which will be presented on Thursday 10th December in London, celebrate the very best in app design, development and innovation.

MyOngaku Live on the App Store

The MyOngaku app for iPhone and iPad is now live on the Apple App Store. The app, designed and developed by Compsoft on behalf of Ongaku Learning, helps violin students and their parents make the most of practice time. MyOngaku enables students to view video demonstrations of specific pieces of music simply by pointing the camera of their iPhone or iPad at their sheet music page. This innovative approach to content delivery provides students and parents easy, on-demand access to guidance they need, at the moment they need it.

A “Suzuki child” who had the privilege of studying under Dr. Shinichi Suzuki – the renowned founder of the Suzuki® Method of music education – and a graduate of the Juilliard School of Music in New York, Dan Dery is a gifted violinist, performer and teacher. He is the inspiration behind MyOngaku and founding partner of Ongaku Learning SA.

A trained Suzuki instructor, Dan enjoys sharing his passion for music with a younger generation based on the philosophy of Dr. Suzuki and the method he pioneered. In this spirit, Dan brought together a diverse and dedicated group of accomplished performers, instrumental teachers, and music enthusiasts to fulfil the MyOngaku vision of creating a practice resource for music learning.

Compsoft Apps Receive Global Recognition

No fewer than four apps designed and developed by Compsoft were voted best in their respective categories at the recent US App Design Awards and Asia App Design Awards – while Compsoft operates solely from the UK, the awards recognize apps that are marketed in each territory.

Winners of the Gold award were:

  • Everyday Golf Coach (US: Home and Living)
  • Formworks (US: Business Platforms)
  • MyOngaku (US: Family)
  • Pixwup (Asia: Best App Startup)

Other award winners included the likes of Google, Nike, American Express, Audi, Capital One and Paypal. A fifth Compsoft app, Displaydata Dynamic Central, was voted a Silver Winner in the Business Operations Category of the US awards.

eyeWitness App Featured on BBC News and CNN

The eyeWitness to Atrocities app for Android, designed and developed by Compsoft on behalf of the International Bar Association (IBA), has been the subject of recent BBC News and CNN reports. The app allows users to take photos and videos of human rights abuses and upload them with device metadata, ensuring they’re admissible as evidence.

According to Wendy Betts, eyeWitness Project Director: “The IBA is excited to launch the eyeWitness to Atrocities app to provide citizens a tool to help bring to justice individuals who commit international atrocity crimes.  Compsoft’s skill, innovation, and dedication to the project were integral to transforming the idea behind the app into reality.”
